According to Pocholo Malillin, the executive Producer of Club Mwah, “Mwah” is a French word which means a kiss, thus, it has become a trademark of the performance as well as the theatre club as they produce exemplary shows.

Club Mwah is the only tourism club performers accredited by the Department of Tourism in the Philippines, it was also awarded as the Most Outstanding Theater Club in Asia in 2007.They are also awarded with a Global Award of Excellence in 2008 in the Asia Pacific Award Council held in Bangkok, Thailand. Further in 2010, the group was also awarded as the Outstanding Theater Club in the Philippines during the Aliw Awards.

Mayor Sara Duterte requested the group to extend their stay in Davao for another night of performance to close the Kadayawan Festival last August 21, 2011 at the Almendras Gym in Davao City where everyone is mesmerized once again by a very spectacular performance of the group.

“Personally, I find theater actors are better to work with because they don’t complain; you can feed them skyflakes three meals a day, and pay them in cat food basically” he also added, “and they are never late, and they cry when you want them to cry, other actors kasi you have to hit them first.”

His unlikely remarks, created a buzz among filmmakers and actors, Storyline Director, Paolo Villaluna, also expressed his position regarding the young filmmaker’s comment through his Facebook account:

“Rafa Santos: you’ve insulted two disciplines that mutually respect each other. You represent a new bad breed of wannabes; you think being a filmmaker is cool and that independent cinema is defined by its budget.”

Raymond Red, the Director of the film,  Anino, also commented on the thread of Villaluna’s wall post, “expect skyflakes on a Cat Paté served on the first day.” Whether Raymond Red meant what he said, well have to wait and see.

On the lighter note, it is said that Rafael Santos, who is competing in the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival for 2011 with his film, Samarito, has sent an email of apology addressed to the Cinemalaya directors group.
